VAT on ad spend

Amazon reports ad spend before tax, but invoices you with VAT or GST in most countries. Ignoring it understates your costs.

In Settings → Taxes → Ad-spend VAT by country, set your rate per marketplace. Spend is then counted tax-inclusive everywhere in the app.

Enter the rate you cannot reclaim. If you recover VAT through your business, set it to 0.

KDP withholding tax

Amazon may hold back part of your royalties for tax before paying you. Your rate comes from your KDP tax interview, and TrueRoyalties detects it automatically on the first sync.

In Settings → Taxes, the switch Count withholding on royalties decides whether it is subtracted:

• Off — royalties and net profit both show pre-withholding amounts.
• On — net profit is computed on what you actually receive.

The Royalties card always stays gross, so it keeps matching KDP. See Net profit.

Reporting currency

Your reporting currency is set in Settings → Preferences → Reporting currency. It is the currency your history is stored and reported in.

Changing it re-imports your full KDP history in the new currency, so past and present always agree. That takes a moment — the dashboard shows a loading state until it lands.

The dashboard and the KENP page also have a display currency picker, for a quick look in another currency without changing your reporting currency.

How conversion works

Every amount is converted at the exchange rate of its own transaction date — a sale from March 2023 uses March 2023's rate, not today's.

This is more accurate than a single flat rate, and it explains a small difference you may notice: KDP's own multi-currency total uses a coarse approximation, so figures can differ by around 1 %. TrueRoyalties is the more precise of the two.

Where to check your rates

Settings → Taxes shows both cards side by side, with the rate currently applied. If your numbers look too good, this is the first page to open.
